A smile crossed Outlaw's maw again as he spoke, Yeah me too. His hazel eyes were brighter as he spoke. He was happier now that he had been talking with Bella and getting to play like a pup. He flicked his tall, pointed ears and stood up. He stretched his muscles and began walking towards the thicker bit of the forest. He turned back to Bella for a moment and said, Bella would you like to take a walk? He asked this because he didn't feel like walking alone. He'd spent most of his life alone so it was nice to be able to have a conversation with another dog for once. Bella was a good talker sometimes too. She just seemed much quieter than other dogs. He guessed that it had been because she was alone a lot of her life too. It was terrible to be alone. Outlaw had learned to deal with it as a pup though. However he enjoyed talking much more than silence as most dogs did. Outlaw continued walking slowly so that if Bella decided to come that she would be able to catch up very easily.

Bella's thoughts had taken her away, yet again, so when Outlaw spoke, it surprised her a bit. She looked up at watched him walk to the forest border. A smile crossed her mug and she got her to feet, stretching quickly. The Border Collie trotted over to Outlaw and smiled once more as she followed faithfully behind him. She looked around and listened to all of the sounds that surrounded her. Squirrels running from tree to tree, rabbits hopping along to their little dens, and even more little critters.
So, what do you want to talk about? Bella asked him, her gaze swinging in his direction. Her hazel eyes met his and she flashed him another smile. She was up for anything, really. She was just having a great time with Outlaw, so she didn't care where she went. She was actually feeling like she belonged somewhere. She knew that was crazy, but she really didn't care. She was just happy to be in a conversation with someone other than herself. Her tail raised a little and swished the air and her ears were only halfway up, listening to the sounds around her as well as what Outlaw was saying.

Outlaw smiled as Bella walked beside him. When she asked him what he wanted to talk about, he was speechless. He'd just wanted to walk but had not thought of anything to talk about. Her racked his brain and finally thought of something. Its nice out today. Outlaw realized that what he had said was kind of stupid but that was all he could think of. He flicked his long, pointed ears as something scurried in front of him. It looked like a rabbit or a fox. He paid little attention to it and just continued walking at a medium speed. Outlaw wasn't getting tired. Being the tall brute he was, his legs always walked a bit quickly without much effort. He looked over at Bella. She seemed to be enjoying the walk just as much as he was. They were getting along with surprised him. He usually got into arguments with other dogs because they liked to taunt him because he was very tall. He didn't let it bother him too much though. Outlaw had learned to block out remarks if they were hurtful. Quietly, Outlaw kept walking slowly, waiting for Bella to speak.

Bella was starting to zone out because Outlaw wasn't saying anything. It seemed to be taking him a while to think of something to talk about. It's nice out today. Bella broke down and laughed. She recovered and nodded. Yes, it is. Very. She giggled again and continued to walk along side him. She couldn't help but feel a little intimidated by his height. It wasn't a bad thing at all, Bella was just small for her breed and she was standing next to a naturally large dog.
Bella racked her brain for something to say, and finally came up with something. So. Tell me a little more about yourself. It wasn't much, but it broke the silence. She looked up at him, with a smile on her face, encouraging him to go on. She was suddenly curious about Outlaw's past and where he came from. She knew she shouldn't be, and that she was being nosy, but her curious side always got the better of her. She swished her tail back and forth a few times and looked ahead so she didn't walk into something. Like a tree.

Outlaw smiled slightly as Bella began laughing. There was nothing else he could think of. He guessed he could go into detail about his puphood, though he didn't like talking about it. He wasn't angry with Bella for laughing, however. Outlaw enjoyed talking. When she asked him to tell her more about himself, he paused for a moment but then spoke. Well, when I was born, I was not fed much. We got four or five feedings a week and not for very long. I was the only one of my siblings who survived. When I was two months old, I stopped nursing and lived off what I could. I was abused by my father which resulted in some of my scars. When I was six months old, I left out on my own and survived. I was somewhat good at hunting but not great at it because I am tall. A year and a half later I came back, fought my father, and lost a few times. Finally once I fought him and won. I banished him from the pack and then gave the pack to someone who deserved it. I didn't want it so I just resumed life as a loner. I've been living that way ever since. Outlaw then resumed walking with Bella, a smile crossing his face. As, he walked, he waited for Bella to speak.

As Outlaw started to speak, Bella found herself not paying attention to where they were going. She felt a sudden wave of sadness wash over her for Outlaw's loss. She bowed her head a little in an apologetic way and her auds lowered as well.
I'm sorry. She murmured, for she couldn't find any other words to express how she felt. She even regretted bringing it up. But as she waited on him to speak, she couldn't stop her eyes from drifting to look at Outlaw. She noticed a few of the scars and she muffled a gasp. She had missed those when they first met, well, up until now, and she didn't plan to draw attention to them. Being the sensitive dog that she was, she was going to try and avoid bringing that up again.
She stopped herself; she knew she was over-thinking everything, but that really didn't bother her. She had always been like that. But one thing got her thinking again.
But, why didn't you want it? I mean, I would do anything to find a pack. A place to call home. Somewhere where other dogs don't pick on me. She asked, hoping that she wasn't hitting a raw nerve here.

Outlaw smiled as Bella told him that she was sorry about what had happened. It was nice to meet someone who cared. Just barely, he heard her quiet gasp. He knew she had seen his scars. That was a different reaction than what most dogs did. Most dogs would avoid him because they thought he was a dark. Not many lights had scars like his because they avoided violence. He was quiet for a bit but when she asked him why he hadn't wanted the pack, he chuckled. Well I can't explain it. The pack members couldn't stand me and I didn't like any of them. I only came back so that I could fight my father. I had so much anger bottled up at him for hurting me as a pup. However, it doesn't bother me anymore. Outlaw was telling the truth. Whenever someone made fun of him, he brushed it off. He could sense Bella was sad. He wished he could do something. Bella don't be sad, he said, and he licked her head. Quietly, he returned to walking at the same slow pace, like Bella, not paying much attention to where he walked.

Bella looked up at him once more as he explained why he left, and it actually made sense to her. She nodded and he told her not to be sad, with a lick on her head. She smiled and side stepped a little closer to him. Outlaw had this trait that made Bella feel like she was protected.
I'll try. She said with a quiet laugh. She needed to get out of her mood. She looked around once more, finally looking around to where she was going. She watched a rabbit hop towards what seemed to be his den, and some more squirrels. The place was crawling with them, it seemed.
Her gaze swung once again to Outlaw and she smiled, her perkiness back. She needed to do something; Bella loped ahead a few strides and grabbed a stick from the ground. God, she hadn't played with a stick in ages...
She tossed it up and caught it in her mouth. Doing that a few more times, she tired herself out. She wasn't used to so much activity. Turning to Outlaw, she smiled. Want to play? She asked him with a smile. She paused and waited for him to speak.

Outlaw smiled as Bella asked him to play. He watched her for a few minutes and could tell she was having fun. Outlaw hadn't really gotten to play as a pup. His main priority had been surviving. He couldn't remember the last time he had played like a pup, other than playing in the creek not too long ago. Sure, he said and picked up another stick, close by. Just as Bella had, he began tossing the stick around, catching it in his jaws. After a while, he dropped the stick and ran over to Bella. What do you want to play? He began thinking of games and came up with one. Tag. Outlaw didn't just want to run off and have Bella laugh at him. He chuckled and said, How about tag? While he waited for Bella to answer, Outlaw decided that he would act like a pup a bit more. He ran to a large pile of leaves and jumped in. A flurry of leaves flew into the air as Outlaw rolled around, having fun. He realized he must look like a fool but he didn't mind. After a while, he sat up and quietly waited for Bella to speak.

Just as Bella was about to stop throwing the stick, Outlaw dropped his and asked what she wanted to play. Bella thought for a moment, but Outlaw spoke first. How about tag? Bella smiled and opened her mug to speak, but Outlaw went running into a leaf pile. The Border Collie burst out laughing as she watched him, and then he sat up and waited for her to speak. She controlled her laughter and walked over to him, slowly.
She circled him, her eyes looking him over. He stopped in front of him and smiled. Bella extended her mug and tapped his leg very gently. Tag! She said and she spun around and took off running. She knew that Outlaw could catch her, but she didn't really care. She sprinted to a nearby tree and tried to crouch behind it. That didn't work out so well. She bolted from the tree and with her short legs, she couldn't run so fast, but she did manage to make it to another pile of leaves. She paused and looked behind her. She had a second. She jumped into the pile, rolled once, and jumped out. She noticed as she started running that she had leaves stuck to her. She laughed and waited for Outlaw to catch up to her.

Outlaw took off after Bella, his tongue lolling out of his maw as he gained speed. Bella wasn't running too fast but she wasn't very slow either. However due to his long legs he took about ten or fifteen strides and was now beside Bella. He gently tapped her shoulder. Tag! Then he took off running once again, getting farther away from Bella but not out of eyesight. He hoped she wasn't looking as he darted into a gigantic pile of leaves. He wasn't visible but wondered if Bella would find him. These leaves were covered in pollen and dust and after a few minutes there was a build up in his nostrils. For a while, he refused to sneeze, his hazel eyes watering. Suddenly he sneezed loudly and leaves blew everywhere. Darn, he blew his cover. However he laughed it off and moved closer to Bella so he wouldn't be so far away to play tag. He wagged his stump of a tail and a smile crossed his face. A breeze then blew and leaves flew everywhere once again. Outlaw soon darted about fifteen feet from Bella and waited for her to chase him.

As she had expected, Outlaw had easily caught up to Bella and tagged her. She grinned and turned on her heels to chase him. But he wasn't anywhere to be seen. She smiled again and lifted her nose to sniff the air. She caught his scent and followed it. She was only a little ways away from a large leaf pile, when she heard Outlaw sneeze and watched as the pile of leaves scattered. She laughed as he wagged his small tail.
He took a few steps towards her and she crouched as she got ready to pounce. She wouldn't have much of a chance, but it looked as if he was giving her a little bit of a break. She laughed as a breeze blew and scattered more leaves. Laughing, she took off running after the large Doberman.
It was easier than she thought it would be to catch up to him. She reached him and gently pressed her nose to his back. Tag! She took off running again, this time, trying to find a better cover. Instead, her paw hooked on a root that was sticking up out of the ground and fell. She ended up in a sitting position, her paw lifted so it wasn't on the ground. She shook her ebony and white head and looked around, a little dazed. After a minute, she laughed and tested her paw. Just fine. She took off running again, only she was a little slower; she didn't want to totally injure her paw. She just hoped Outlaw wouldn't worry about it too much.

Outlaw smiled just a little as Bella fell for he had fallen not too long ago. However he saw her looking at her paw. Was she hurt? Outlaw didn't know why he was worrying so much but he was. He took off and was soon by Bella. Bella are you ok? He tried not to sound worried but inside he was just a bit. His hazel eyes watched Bella for many moments as he wracked his brain for something else to say. Outlaw knew that he had feelings for Bella now. A smile crossed his maw and his stomach seemed to turn flips inside of him. He kept waiting for a few minutes and finally spoke. Bella, will you be my mate? Outlaw was shocked at what he had just said but he was also happy. He had, for the first time in his life, shared a lot of his feelings. He had also told his history to Bella which hadn't been very easy. However Outlaw felt a bit of fear form inside too. The fear of being rejected by Bella. The fear wasn't big though. Quietly he waited for Bella to respond to his question.

Bella had known that she couldn't have hid the fact that she had tripped. She hid her laugh as he asked if she was fine. She nodded and lifted her paw once more. Yes, I'm fine. She said and let her paw rest on the ground. She opened her mug to say something, but Outlaw spoke first. And what he said made her forget nearly everything. Bella, will you be my mate?
Bella's mouth remained open in shock as she let that absorb. So he had feelings for her. She couldn't deny that she had an attraction towards him as well. Her mouth snapped shut as she tried to form words. She smiled and nodded her head.
Oh Outlaw! She gasped with a puppy-ish grin. Yes! Yes I'll be your mate! She nearly squealed and her tail started swishing the air. She was too happy now to worry about her partially injured paw. She stood and resisted the urge to jump for joy.
The feeling of being loved and wanted washed over her and she felt a new warm feeling in the pit of her being. She couldn't stop herself as she took a step towards him and nuzzled his neck. It was the closest thing she could reach with her height.

Outlaw grinned as Bella spoke happily. For the first time in his life Outlaw was in love and was loved. Thank you so much Bella. After Bella nuzzled his neck, he bent down and licked her on the head. Afterwards, Outlaw began jumping around and running like a foolish pup. He didn't care though. He couldn't help it. He was so happy. In a few minutes he was done playing and walked back to Bella. This was one of the happiest moments in Outlaw's life. Outlaw and Bella might be taunted because of their extreme height difference but Outlaw had learned to block out insults and he didn't doubt that Bella had learned too. For a few minutes Outlaw was thinking of what he could talk about with Bella. He remembered that he had spoke to much, not allowing Bella to respond so he chose to remain quiet. However he continued to stare at Bella, his hazel eyes very bright with happiness. Eventually he hoped that he and Bella would have pups, but he didn't know if she wanted them so he wouldn't ask for now. He flicked his auds, a smile on his face, as he waited for Bella to speak.
