Cold, emerald colored eyes stared ahead of the red and white she-dog as she walked up towards Canine Ridge. She wanted to visit this place for it's beautiful view mainly. Her white socked feet kept a quick pace as she continued on. When she finally reached the top, she was amazed. The view was so spectacular. The deep blue sea with it's foaming waves and the sun was just setting on the horizon. There was a sunset made of pinks, purples, oranges, and reds. She walked lightly towards the edge, knowing one misstep could lead to her plummeting to the jagged rocks below. Suddenly a piece of rock broke from underneath her paw. She moved back just a bit so to avoid falling. She watched the rock quickly fall to the water. Her father had died her from a misstep a couple of years ago. She quickly moved back and sat down, her green eyes only focused on the sunset. Though she thought the sunset was lovely, she was still cold inside. She doubted she'd ever be different. She didn't care. She accepted her harsh and cold personality. Zephyra flicked her one pointed ear and her other ear which was pointed but folded at the top. She also was missing a few toes on both her front paws from an accident she didn't remember. Though she loved being alone, she did wonder if anyone would show up

Zar slowly walked to Canine Ridge. He had never been there in all of his two years, and was surprised at himself for that. He was never really one to go sight seeing, but then again he was more of a loner if anything.
When he arrived there, he stopped shorting, noticing a red and white female standing at the edge of the ridge. He nbacked up a few steps and sat down, frowning widely. He was hoping no one would be up here. But he wasn't going to come back some other time. He wouldn't get the time to. Instead he watched to see what she would do.
Zar knew a lot of dogs died on this ridge, and several comitted suicide off it too. But that didn't scare him in the least. He exmined her movements. Wondering if she was a visitor or a victim. He watched as a rock went crashing to the water below. Hs muscles tensed. No he didn't like other dogs, but if one needed his help he would most certainly give it to them.
As he saw her back up, he relaxed again. Then he stood and approached the ridge. Being completely silent when doing so. He whisked by her, and could immediately tell he was taller than her. He was bigger than most dogs, but he could never outgrow a Great Dane. He sat only a few feet in front of her, but not too close to the edge. He looked at the sunset, tilting his head. He had seen them before, but the way it reflected off the water was beautiful and amazing to see. His ears perked up eagerly, hearing the sounds of waves crashing below. Ah, it was a beautiful sunset indeed, worth coming here to see. Words;; 302 Puppet;; Zar Mood;; Curious, relaxed Comments;; First post with Zar ^_^

A snarl escaped Zephyra's maw as she stared at the brute. He had surprised her. Soon she stopped her snarling and just kept watching the brute, her green eyes cold. Finally she spoke, So why have you disrupted my quiet evening brute? Her words were were smug and in a bit of hiss. Suddenly she lifted her back leg and scratched her shaggy head. Stupid fleas. Being a Nova Scotia Retriever mix she had a medium coat. Very hot days were terrible to Zephyra. She was overheated when she ran and she had to search for shade all of the time. When she came from her thoughts, she focused back on the doberman. A smirk crawled across her maw and she spoke again, Are you just going to sit there like a dim-wit or tell me your name? She paused and continued, I am Zephyra. She was quite happy for the moment. She finally got to taunt someone again. It was extremely fun to her. She avoided violence whenever she could but she often pushed some dogs over the edge. She annoyed them to the point that they attacked. It was quite funny to watch them lose their cool. Her emerald eyes never left the male doberman's. She liked to look into other dog's eyes. Their eyes told alot about them. After a few minutes she stopped staring and focused her gaze on the sunset. So beautiful. Though Zephyra was a cruel female she quite enjoyed the lovely things in life. Like sunsets and the ocean. A very slight smile came across her face replacing the smirk as she sat watching, waiting for the doberman to respond

Zar turned to her and rose a brow as she snarled at him. When she finally stopped her rolled his eyes. "I did nothing to disrupt it, you're the one who started the fuss," he said in his dark mysterious voice. HYe snickered as she got distracted by a scratch and turned back to the sunset.
Zar was lucky his fur was short and think, otherwise his black fur would kill him on scolding days. Fleas didn't bother him much since his fur was so hard to make a home in, not being very long and protected.
When she asked for his name, in a way, he rose a brow. "Why should i tell you my name when all you've done was bother me?" he remarked gruffly. Calling him a dim-wit was probably not the best thing she could have done.
Zar could have immeditaly turned and pinned her to the ground with his large size. And wtih fangs that were built for killing, her life could have ended there. But he was calmer than most dogs and could take verbal abuse extremely and abnormally well.
As he caught her name he sighed and decided to announce his as well. "Zar," he stated simply. He waited for the reaction he was expecting to get. One that he had gotten millions of times before. Some dogs he had even killed for it. Words;; 237 Mood;; Calm, waiting

Zephyra let a smug grin come across her face. This brute seemed to have a personality like hers. However her's seemed to be a bit more mean and cold. This brute was a bit bigger than her. At least three or four inches. It didn't intimidate her though. She'd seen dogs who thought that they were so strong because they had were large. However when it came time to fight they were very clumsy and seemed to trip over their own paws. Zephyra was not small. She was about medium size. She waited bit before she spoke, Where do you reside, Zar? She spoke calmly with only a small tinge of sarcasm. Of course, she wanted to push Zar off the cliff for speaking the way that he had but she wasn't that mean. She could be that mean but she wasn't now. Often Zephyra thought of how she would be if she had been raised with love and care but usually pushed it to the back of her mind. Her green eyes were extremely cold now as she stared at the brute a bit more. She flicked her ears and waited for Zar to speak.

Zar was slightly surprised when she hadn't made fun of his name. The way she acted seemed like she would, but he shrugged it off. Even if she had made fun of his name, she would be lucky he was in a good mood.
"I don't reside anywhere," he replied to her question, staring at the sunset. "I go anywhere i wish..." he added. He could tell from the look on her face she was annoyed with him. His face was calm and relaxed but in the back of his mind he was grinning.
He stood up and shook out his fur, which was pointless, then turned to face her completely. "Why do you ask?" he asked, tilting his head questioningly. "You didn't seem like you'd be interested in getting to know me at all," he added, a small grin formed on his face. And there was the cockiness.
Zar loved to pick on people, little things, big things, you name it. He loved to manipulate and what not. But he only did this to people who treated him the same way. So this was nothing new to him. Tons of dogs made fun of him and came up to him just to annoy him. His opinion was if anything happened here, it would be Zephyra's fault. That was always his opinion. He never strated anything. Other dogs always started it. Words;; 244 Mood;; Cocky, still calm

She growled lowly as he spoke in a cocky tone. As do I Zar. I may seem like I don't want to know you but I do. I don't just come, yell at someone, and not get to know them, she said sarcastically and with a smirk. This brute was quite annoying to her but in a way she liked his personality. He could match her wit somewhat. She liked his personality and she disliked it at the same time. This brute was loner just as she was. She had never been part of a pack and didn't plan to join any time soon. Maybe. She'd heard of the mafia pack and it intrigued her, but she doubted that she'd join. After a bit she licked her paw which had a small sore. Walking all the time didn't help much but it didn't bother her much. She was kind of shocked when Zar didn't say anything about her eyes being so cold. Most dogs commented on them because they were gloomy but they also seemed to sparkle. Her eyes were very green. Like a valley's grass after a good rainy summer. She turned away from Zar again and focused back on the sunset. It was now fading down now. It was soon going to be dark out. Meanwhile she waited for Zar to speak.

Zar grinned when she growled at him. Yes, he was one annoying son of... you know. But sometimes he wasn't. He was just in the mood to be today. He shrugged at her remark. "Good point," he said, not very interested anymore.
He turned back to the sunset, which was now fading into darkness, sinking into the ocean. Zar yawned. Not of tiredness, of boredom. He had slept almost the whole day, there was no reason for him to be tired.
"So i take it youre not in a pack?" he said, his eyes going in the direction of Zephyra. He had already gotten the clue that she was a loner, he just wanted to make sure he'd heard right. She didn't seem like the type to be in a pack, much like he didn't. He hoped his guess was right.
"I just want to make sure," he added quickly. He didn't want her to thyink he was nosy. He hated nosy dogs. They annoyed him, always so cruous and constantly asking questions. They ticked him off. He certainly didn't want to seem nosy and make a bad impression now did he? Words;; 204 Mood;; Bored, calm, thoughtful

A yawn escaped Zephyra's maw. Yes I am a loner. She could tell that he was bored also. Nothing was happening. This is why Zephyra didn't like talking with other dogs. They were so boring. Also most dogs were pushovers and didn't stand up for themselves. Zar was a bit different though. He could stand up for himself but he was quite boring. Maybe it was just the conversation making Zephyra bored. However she couldn't think of anything to talk about that was interesting. For a few minutes she just sat wondering what they could talk about. Finally she got an idea but she didn't want to pry too much. However when had she not been a bit nosy? So Zar, what was your puphood like? Of course if he told her his history, she would tell hers too. Though she wasn't nice in general, she would at least be a bit kind to the brute. The sunset was now setting and turning into night. She liked night but not as much as she enjoyed day. She flicked her ears again and kept staring at the brute, quietly waiting for him to respond to her question.

Zar was glad to know he was right about her being a loner. At least, glad he caught that part of the information. He knew he was a boring dog, and having two dogs that were both... well pretty much the same, in one place, it was... terrible. Zar yawned his strange yawn where it ended in a sort of whining growl.
Zar's ears perked up when she asked him about his puphood. He could have turned and stared at her like she was crazy, but decided it would be a much better conversation then sitting her watching... well pretty much nothing now. He inwardly sighed, and shrugged mentally. It could srtike up a good conversation... hopefully...
"Well, i was a street dog," he started, turning around to face her, laying down knowing it would be a little of a long story. "I grew up with, obviously, my parents. All my siblings died because they got sick," he said the last bit as if it were nothing.
"Anyways, as I said, we were street dogs, so my parents taught me that it was better to be tough then some petty dog who couldn't dtand up for themself. I agreed. When i stoppted nursing i had to teach myself how to catch my own food or i wouldn't be fed for the whole day. A lot of dogs think that my parents are evil whenever i tell them this, but they weren't They were preparing me for a tough world.
"It was a good thing they treated me like this too... because they were taken away from me when i was 16 months old," he said. The memory hurt to think about, but his face was emotionless. Even his eyes seemed foggy and un readable. "So that's basically my story," he said, yawning his strange yawn after a moment. "What about you?" he asked, looking up at Zephyra.

Zephyra's green eyes turned a bit colder as he spoke. He'd had a much better puphood than she had. She said quietly as he finished, Hm. Nice story. She said it in a bit of a sarcastic way but she also kind of pitied him. He'd been raised with tough love but it wasn't too horrible. She sat silently for a few minutes, staring out into the darkening sky. Finally she spoke. Well just so you know Zar, you are the first dog I have ever shared my past with, she paused for a moment and continued. Well I was born to a mother who rejected me. Though she didn't want me, she still fed me until I could hunt for myself. I never saw my father much. He was a loner and also wanted nothing to do with me. My siblings died when they were a few weeks old, due to sickness. I saw my father only twice in my life until he died... She paused once again for a long while and looked at her paws. At Canine Ridge. She stopped again. She showed no emotion in her eyes. They were just cold. In someway she wished she had been able to know her father more before he died. Zephyra then continued, When I was one and a half I left out on my own. I survived on what I could. I have lived that way ever since. He doubted Zar would be very surprised. She guessed that he had already figured out that she had had a bad past due to her attitude. Quietly she just sat and waited for something to happen.

Zar listened intently not even speaking. Her past was harder than his, he guessed that when he first met her. It seemed like she had been through hard times because of the way she acted. She wass cold with him. Now it was more obvious as to why.
Zar didn't want to say anything like 'I'm sorry to hear that'. Not because he didn't care but because he thought those kind of things were a little cheesy. Instead he nodded.
"I assume that," he said as she said she lived on her own off whatever she could. "Well, we have a few things in common then," he added, standing up, and stertching. He knew he should find shelter before it was completely dark. He didn't feel like running into any more dogs today. If he did he'd probably end up getting into an unecessary fight anyways.
He glanced at Zephyra. "Are you turning in for the night?" he asked, hoping that didn't sound nosy. He just wanted to know if she was gong to find shelter as well. He was mean, yes, but being rude to dogs he just met wasn't part of that. Unless they were really annoying. Words;; 212

Zephyra sat quietly for a while, barely listening to Zar. She had heard what he had said but she was focused on the darkening sky. Finally she stood and walked over to the edge of Canine Ridge again. She stood for minutes, watching the foam-capped water crash against the sharp rocks. She could just barely see it but she enjoyed watching it. Zephyra turned back to Zar and said quietly, Yes, I suppose I should. Of course Zephyra didn't want to go down the small trail that ran up the side of the cliffs but she knew she had to if she was going to find shelter. Zephyra was kind of shocked by what she had done. She had actually shared her past with someone. A male at that. However finally letting go of some anger felt good. For three years she had kept all the hurt bottled up inside and it wasn't good. It was better that she had told Zar, rather than explode one day and attack a dog for no reason. However she didn't mention the betrayal she had suffered. It was none of Zar's business anyways. She walked towards the trail, then looked back and said to Zar, Goodbye Zar. She wondered if he would tag along or stay there. It might pester her a bit if he followed but she wouldn't go berzerk about it. She turned back and began slowly walking down the trail.

Zar waited as she walked over to the edge of the the ridge. He yawned again and sat back down. He then realized how rare these type nof chats were for him. Normally his chats would end in a fight with the dog he had met. Normally. But todayy, for some reason... no. He thought it was strange, but stopped thinking about the matter before his mind wandered off.
His ears perked up as he heard Zephyra's words. He, or course, wasn't going to go down the path, so the thought of following her never crossed his mind. He kind of liked the idea of meeting someone and never seeing them again. He didn't like to get too close to anyone. The feeling was often strange to him.
Zar nodded as she said her goodbye. "Goodbye Zephyra," he said, standing, but instead of turning and walking away, he instead trotted to the edge of the ridge and sat there for a few moments, staring at the sky. After a minute, he turned around, nodded to Zephyra once more, and slowly walked away, not even thinking about his action. If it were strange to her or not.
There wasn't really anything left to say, at least for him there wasn't. He had told her his life, his name, and actually got along with her a little. That was good enough to satisfy him, maybe if he was lucky he'd be in a good mood tomorrow too. But he highyly douybted it.
