Months. For months and months she had been wandering. During that time she had matured physically and mentally, to the point that she thought like a dog four times her age. She'd fought her battles, lost some, won more. She'd fended for herself, learning to hunt from nothing but her dim instincts. But those instincts weren't so very dim anymore, oh no. They had sharpened to the point that she could go for days without letting a single thought enter her mind, moving and living as if on auto-pilot. But she didn't like to do that. Dulcet. That was her name, something she'd always wondered about. She didn't know its meaning exactly, only that it had positive connotations. When the humans had named her they'd fawned over her and stroked and giggled and crooned. That was before the Alpha came home no more. Then everything was sad. The kids had already begun to leave, no longer children but in the stage between childhood and full-fledged maturity. Dulcet hadn't understood all that had happened during her life, but she understood plenty well enough what had happened almost exactly a year ago. It wasn't something she thought about very much. It had happened, and there was nothing, absolutely nothing, she could do to change something that had already happened. And so she moved on. After that day and a half of waiting she had moved on. And here she was. She'd heard of this city of dogs through word on the street. It had intrigued her. A city without humans? What would such a thing be like? How did all the dogs get along? Did they even? Since she had nothing better to do, she'd slowly made her way there. She'd loped steadily down an old highway for days, and now she knew she had arrived. The scent of humans had grown few and far between, and now the only evidence that humans existed where the mechanical things and their structures and faint traces of a scent every once in a while. She'd come to rest at an old gas station. The scent of dogs was heavy, but she could tell that no one had claimed it for there own. She was tired, so she had hopped up into the dirty bed of an old truck abandoned out front after she'd walked for a while along the premises. She was in heat, and so quite on edge, but not overly worried. She was fully capable of defending herself, to be sure. But she found that she was unable to fall asleep. At first she'd curled up and tucked her nose to her tail in an effort to fend off the chilling breeze that blew, but had been to restless and alert to drift to sleep. And so she now sat fully erect, leaning her shoulder against the back of the truck cab as she sat in the bed, her long narrow tail thumping slightly, sending small puffs of dust into the cool evening air. Tod slowly moved up the highway road he was heading to the gas station the one place he would go to rest, maybe see if any one would like to talk, the hospital right now had to much fights, strays had went in their causing trouble for no reason. As his fur was blown lightly from the wind, his pink tongue had hanged out from the heat beaming on his soft, and fluffy like coat. As he reached the station a small scent had raised into his nostrils "Interesting someone is here"he thought slowly he moved his heavy body into the station following the scent that caught his attention. It was a femme from the smell of it as he finally reached the area he looked seeing that she must have went in the truck he didn't go in, or didn't even bother to, for which thats how bad things happened "Excuse me miss I was wondering if your hungry I now where we can get food"he spoke sweetly to her from outside the vehicle. Yes it was odd to say words like that, but it was something it was just the two of them, and he new were to find food, it was in the storage area their was some fresh food in their that humans did touch. He looked up as his head was tilted to the side a bit wondering what she would say, or do. "The names Tod"he spoke as the words echo through the garage like area.

The chilly autumn breeze that blew had alerted Dulcet to the impending arrival of another dog. A male dog. She had stiffened slightly, but remained in the truck bed, preffering the slightly higher-up position than one on the ground. The scent of the newcomer did not convey any malice, but Dulcet was still rather ill at ease. Her amber-colored gaze swept the area ceaselessly, until it came to rest on an extremely large bi-colored dog. Her lip lifted slightly as she studied him. He was very large, larger than her, and that made Dulcet uneasy. As he spoke her head tilted slightly to the left. His words were kind and carried no hint of threat. The same went for his relaxed posture. Was he dim witted or something? If she'd been a different dog she may have attacked him. But his words reminded her that she was rather hungry. She made no answer for a long moment, but then she put her forepaws on the edge of the truck bed and nodded her head slightly. I am rather hungry. she said, her voice low and soft. The briefest of smiles flickered across her pretty face; it was gone almost as soon as it appeared. As he gave her his name she hopped down from the truck, standing rather stiffly a few yards from him, her eyes locked on him rather warily. I am Dulcet. she said with a polite nod. Where was the food he spoke of? [/blockquote]

As he spotted the Fae pop out a bit from the truck a smile came across his maw. His tail wagged like all friendly dogs did when they were joyfully, and caring. When she finally spoke saying she was hungry he gave a nod, he was about to speak, but she had hopped out of the vehicle. She probably thought he was weird asking such a thing like that when she spoke her name he nodded to her. "Very pretty name....Follow me, and I will lead you to the food"he spoke kindly.
Slowly he turned around. he hoped that she would follow him to the storage he walked up a few steps, and into the room which was the office, making another turn their was a hall way this place was almost like a house. As he moved into the back their was a door it was closed, but no worries the door nob had a handle that you could push down on to open it. As he reached the door he jumped up on his hind legs placing both fronts on the wall slowly he used his paw, and pressed down on it.
The door had made a clicking sound when he gently pushed it a bit he hopped down onto all fours, and pushed the door open. Slowly he had entered in it, slowly he moved his head around seeing how their was still plenty of food. He guessed, cause no one even thought to look back here. With out waiting a second he hurried, and grabbed a ham that hanged low on the wall, he used his fangs ripping it off the string that held it up, and began to eat it.

The same feeling of surprise and mild shock washed over Dulcet as the dog turned his back on her. She stiffened automatically, her nails pressing into the asphalt as she studied him. Was he that trusting? Trust was not an emotion she was familiar with, not in the least. It rather startled her, seeing it in someone else like this. She took a few seconds to recover from her surprise, but then followed him, slowly, warily. Was there a trap coming? Had he been so kind only because he was about to turn and attack her? Was he trying to get her to let down her guard? Because that was something that would never happen. She hung back a bit as he opened the door, her amber eyes still filled with distrust and wariness. Her nostrils flared slightly as the scent of humans mixed with food washed out of the room. Her lip curled slightly, but she did not move, instead watching the dog, Tod, she made herself call him, go for a ham. She took a hesitant step forward, then another so that her head was half-way in the room. She peered around warily, but found no obvious sign of danger, not right away. She forced her feet to move, one after the other, her movements stiff and cautious. She made for a packet of jerky on top of a counter, glancing at Tod briefly. He seemed absorbed in the ham, but she didn't want to take any risks. Her movements were lightning fast and unbelievably graceful as she half-jumped, reached out and snagged the packet with her teeth before landing on the ground once more. Again she looked at Tod warily, but the smell of the meat- even shot through as it was with preservatives and whatnot- was too appetizing. With one jerk of her head the bag was slit and a long piece of the dried meat was in her mouth. [/blockquote]

As Tod ate his eyes laid on the ham till Dulcet popped her head. Slowly he raised his eyes at hers watching her with a caution action he then went back to his eating.
"Please don't be scared of me I'm just an old saint Bernard who likes to make friends their is no need to be scared of me just relax....Im a loner brute taking care of all the much younger and very old strays....Im very friendly"he spoke in a wise but kind tone.
His eye went up, kindly stared into hers he was a gentlemen raised with good parents. He wouldn't hurt a fly even though he was large, and heavy.
He loved every stray with kindness like a family member this brute was slowly growing old by each day. Yes he would die of old age or protecting some one, but he new he would go to heaven from all the good deeds he did.
His soul was pure even the eyes could show good in him not one hatred could be seen if anything it would be the darks. For which they had destroyed the world making it unbalanced, and terrifying.
(sorry school work been kicking my butt lately)
