Is it my period or food poisoning?

Today, I started my peirod which is strange because I just started taking birth control (my doctor prescribed it for me for my cramos because they're really bad.) Anyway, I had breakfest tacos from Taco Cabana, and I've gotten food poisoning from them twice, from another one of their tacos, not the breakfest tacos. Anyway, I was throwing up all day after about 12 pm. I couldn't eat or sleep or take any pain reliefs like Midol. I've never thrown up that much during a period. So I'm wondering, was it food poisoning or normal for my period or because of the sudden change of my taking of birth control?
