Killer gazed at the dead bear and shuddered even in death it still look ferociously toward him. Killer looked at Darkness and managed to sit down letting his hurt leg lay to his side. As Darkness walked over to him he licked her muzzle as the rest of the redness faded from his eyes. "It's over" he whispered to her. He licked the blood off the wound on his leg and looked at Blood Moon and smiled. Killer's face bled slightly from where the bear cut him near his eye but he still smiled. He looked back toward the bear and knew it could have killed both of them and then..... Blood Moon. Killer looked back toward Darkness and kept his gaze there smiling happily.

Darkness gave a small smile in return to Killer, then leaned donw to lightly lick his wounds. They looked pretty bad to her, and she knew that they would leave scars. She then looked at his face and saw the cut above his eye. She licked him lightly there two, trying to clense it of blood and dirt. They had just survived a bear attack, she didn't want her heroic mate to die of an infection! She continued to clean Killer's wounds. Once she felt they were clean, she looked to Blood Moon. "It's ok, you can come out now if you would like." She looked to Killer, asking with her eyes if that would be ok.

Killer nodded and said "Come on out son." He smiled as Darkness licked his cuts. He looked at his leg and lightly laid down facing Darkness and Blood Moon. Killer felt to weak to move with his cuts still bleeding heavily he sighed and waited for Blood Moon to come to him. Even though he was hurt he still managed to smile at his mate and son. Killer's tail brushed over the ground slightly as he watched them. His gentle green orbs were calm now as his blood stained the ground. Killer shivered as he remembered the bears cold gaze staring at him but he pushed it away and smiled.

Once Darkness was satisfied that Killer's cuts were sufficiantly cleaned, she began on herself. She sat back on her haunches, trying to lick herself, but stopped and winced in pain as it cuts moved, sending fresh gushes of blood flowing through the tear. Darkness slowly leaned back, her eyes tightly shut, biting the tip of her toung to repress a yelp. Once she had her head positioned over her cut, she slowly let her toung rythmically lick the gashes, cleaning the dirt and gore from them. Blood coated her long toung and the salty flavor made her salivate. Soon enough the cut was cleaned, and she turned and sighed, finally content. She contemplated on walking down to the river to take a bath, to clean the blood from her dark fur, but decided against it, as her gashed wouldn't allow her to walk at all without pain.

Killer watched Blood Moon run over to him and Killer nuzzled him gently. He sighed and looked at Darkness from where he lay he spoke gently "I love you... both of you." He smiled through the pain he felt as he looked happily at them. His tail brushed the ground and he tried to sit up but slowly fell back down. He whimpered slightly to himself and laid there in silence waiting for someone to speak. Blood Moon walked up to his father and licked his cheek Killer smiled and licked Blood Moon back happily.

Darkness slowly looked away from the two wolf-dogs as black began to rim her vision. She began to feel peace, as her family was safe, for now. Tiredness overwelmed the black husky, so Darkness slowly dropped her form to the ground and curled up in a tight ball. She cast her eyes around her one last time, looking at the two white dogs licking each other, before she closed her eyes to take a much needed slumber. Her irratic breathing soon slowed down to the rythmic breathing of a creature in sleep, and the tenseness of her muscles, left, as she drifted deeper and deeper into the back of her mind. She shut out the wind, the smell of the bear, and, most of all, the pain of the wounds.

Killer watched his mate settle down to sleep. Blood Moon curled up next to her warm body as Killer stayed up protecting them. He was tired but his family's safety was more important than sleep. The redness in his eyes faded and he watched over his family all night long. All was quiet but he did not let his guard down. He rested his head over his paws forcing his eyes to stay open. In the distance Killer head the bloodthirsty howl of a wolf, but he did not worry about it. He yawned and looked over at Darkness and Blood Moon morning was coming and they would wake soon.
