She noticed the sad look on Killer's face but didn't say anything. She figured that he didn't want to be known as the sensitive type. Using her keen sence of sight, Darkness peered into the cave Killer had found. Darkness slowly walked into the cave. It wasn't that she didn't believe Killer that it was safe or anything, but she just wanted to see for herself. Darkness sniffed the air around the gaping maw of the cave, she smelled the scent of a mountain lion. It wasn't rescent, in fact it was quite old. There were no other scents that she felt she needed to pay attention to. She walked into the cave, now with confidence, and started to sniff at the walls. It was quite roomy in fact. Nice and big. With a little touch up, like some leaves and dry grasses and such, this should make a very nice den. Darkness walked back out and looked down at Blood Moon. "Do you want to go in and find a place to make your bed? You can have first dibs." She gazed down at him with love in her eyes. She then looked up to Killer. With her deep brown eyes, she was trying to tell him to wait outside the cave, she would be right back out as soon as she got Blood Moon settled.

Killer looked at them and after Darkness spoke Blood Moon bounded inside the cave. Killer still sat there until both Darkness and Blood Moon were settled. He looked happily at Blood Moon and Darkness then returned his gaze to his surroundings. He stayed there until Darkness had invited him in watching everything for signs of danger.

She watched happily when Blood Moon had happilly bounded into the cave. Once he had fallen asleep, she walked back out to Killer. Once she was outside and finally alone with the wolf, she looked down, suddenly feeling slightly uncomfortable. Killer was so close, she could feel the heat from his body joining with hers. He was her mate now, she shouldn't be feeling this way. But she had never been alone with any male dog before, much less a wolf. Darkness looked up into his eyes, and the uncomfortableness melted away. She slowly reached her muzzle toward him and touched the side of his head with her nose. She breathed in his scent. He smelled... right. To Darkness, Killer smelled like he belonged with her and she to him.

Killer looked at Darkness happily he licked her muzzle then looked up at the sky. He sighed happily and wagged his tail and looked deep into Darkness's eyes. He looked in the cave for a second at Blood Moon happily curled up and asleep. He looked back at Darkness and smiled happy to have someone to be with.

Darkness licked Killer back and laid her head across his back. She looked slowly ahead of them, into the shadows of the woods. She could hear many different noises, mice scuffling around in the leaves foraging for food, squirrels shuffling through the trees, she heard an owl hoot in a nearby tree. Darkness shifted her brown eyes toward Killer and brought her head back. She looked at him intently. Suddenly, behind her, she heard a twig crack. It was a big twig, not something that could be broken by a small animal. Darkness wipped her head around and stared hard into the darkness of the forest. She heard something big snuffling around in the undergrowth. Her hackles stood on end as the scent of the creature reached her muzzle. What is that thing? she whispered urgently to Killer.

Killer let out a warning growl to the strange creature and said "I don't know." He watched the spot where the sound had come from and got ready in case whatever it was attacked. The fur on killers neck stood up and he growled again he was ready to fight if necessary. Killer didn't take his eyes off that spot he watched and waited. Anger burned in his eyes hoping that whatever was there would not hurt Darkness or Blood Moon.

Darkness glared into the shadows of the forest, trying to make out what the lumbering figure was. She saw short brown fur, small rounded ears, a long snout... The creature looked her way after hearing Killers snarl. Its answering roar made it plain what it was. GRIZZLY BEAR!! Darkness crouched down, digging her claws deep into the earth, she bunched up her muscles, preparing to leap into action if it decided to attack her newfound pack. Her sight began to go red as her killing instincts began to take over.

Killer growled loudly and brushed his tail against his mates chest. He stepped forward a bit but not close enough to be attacked. His muscles tensed and he would not be beaten by some stupid bear. He glanced at Blood Moon and noticed his eyes wide open staring at them. Killer growled loudly "Stay there son i will protect you." Killer's voice was calm then he looked back in the bears direction. He showed his sharp teeth waiting to attack he was not afraid of anything. He didn't take his eyes off that spot tensed and ready for battle he waited. Killer crouched ready to leap when he saw the bear approach his sharp claws dug into the ground. The fur on his neck stood up in alarm. His normally green eyes and turned blood red as they always did when he had the urge to kill. He grinned at the bear and thought you did it now... you made me angry and now you will face my wrath. When Killer's eyes turned red he showed no mercy. His bright bloody red orbs stared and waited showing no signs of backing down. Killer glanced at Darkness then back toward the bears direction. The only mercy he would show now would be to his son and mate.

Darkness let her bunched muscled loose, sending her flying through the air onto the grizzly's back. She sunk her teeth deep into its fur, trying to reach bone. The fur was thick, as was the fat lining the grizzly's body. The bear began to shake itself, attempting to shake the clinging dog off, but Darkness held on tight with her teeth and paws. The bear flung its head over its back, trying to bite the she-dog, but, luckily for Darkness, she was to close to the base of it's head for it's seeking jaws to grab her. Darkness shifted her jaws, trying to find something to rip through other then fur and skin. She shook her head and felt the wonderful give of ripping flesh. The bear roared in anger and pain and shook itself harder, but the dog clung on. The grizzly stood up on it's hind legs and backed up, trying to find a tree to crash the infurior dog up agianst. Darkness glanced backward and spotted a tree the bear was backing towards, she waited for the tree to get too close and leapt free of the bear's body. The bear crashed into the tree so hard that the large tree shook. The bear looked around, slightly dazed, blood dripping down the tear in it's back.

Killer leapt on the bear after his mate careful not to accidentally hurt her instead. He ripped through fur and flesh just as Darkness had done and he clawed the bears side. He ripped through flesh to reach the bears bone he sunk his teeth into the bone hard. Then Killer stood up on his back paws and reached up and his jaws clamped onto the bears ear. He ripped off part of the bears ear and it roared in anger. The bears blood dipped everywhere and started to stain Killer's coat. The big brown bear tried to snap at Killer but it missed and Killer claws his face. The anger in Killer's eyes grew stronger as he used all his strength to fight the bear.

Darkness joined her mate in driving the bear away from the den, killing it if they had to. She leapt over to the bear's side slashing her fangs into it's side, showing her it's guts. Since Killer was occupying most of the bear's attention, Darkness continued to work on ripping open the bear's belly. Soon she had a good hole going, and intestines began to leak out of the hole. At this point the bear turned it's attention from Killer to Darkness, and it swung it's powerful paw in her direction. Its claws caught her rump as she jumped out of the way, and it scored deep slashes into her haunch. Darkness gave a soft yelp at the pain, but her bloodlust kept her from feeling the full pain. She leapt back at the bear and her blood mingled with it's.

Killer grew even more angry at the sound of his mates yelp. He clawed the bears side getting it's attention back on him. He kept the bear distracted while Darkness ripped open it's belly. He bit deep in the bears side and then it shook him off. Killer fell to the ground dizzily but got right back up and bit the bears side again. He pulled at the bears skin and pulled some skin from it he clawed the bears face again for hurting his mate. He growled and focused on distracting the bear while Darkness ripped at it's side.

Darkness ran back to the gash on the bear and grabbed it's hanging intestines. They felt gushy and weak in her jaws, so she ripped the smooth lining to shreads. DIgestive juices spreyed Darkness in the face, causing her to drop the intestines immediantly. The juices smelled and tasted very vile. Her mouth began to frothe as the taste began to really take effect. Darkness shook her head to dispell the taste from her mouth, but soon forgot about it when she heard the bear roar again. She leapt forward and continued her savage attack on the beast, making the hole she had started bigger. The bear was weakening, she could tell. Blood was covering her head to tail, as it was gushing from the wound profusely. The bear began to shiver as the loss of blood began to effect it, and it swayed as the two dogs lunged against it, ripping fur out left and right.

Killer looked at the bear and saw it weakening he stood there watching. He just noticed his own blood spilling from a cut on his leg. He slightly fell to the ground but forced himself back up. The redness starting to fade from his eyes he felt his energy drain. He saw Blood Moon try to run out to him but Killer said weakly No son... stay..." Blood Moon obeyed him and watched his father helplessly and whimpered. Killer struggled to get up and lunged himself weakly at the bear. His now less read eyes stared at the bear and he stumbled slightly backward. Killer growled and knew the cut on his leg made it hard to walk. He stood where he was trying to keep on his feet.

Darkness' sight also lost it's redness, but because of the fact that the bloodlust was leaving, so was its painkiller like quality. She bared her teeth and closed her eyes tightly, barely surpressing a loud yelp. She concentrated on breathing in and out. When the pain seemed to dull a bit, she opened her eyes once again and looked at the bear. It had slumped down to the ground, but it was still snarling, its eyes still locked on Killer. This started to fill her with rage all over agian, but she didn't have the energy to hold another bloodlust. Darkness looked over to Killer and saw him stumbling. She attempted to walk over to him, tried to comfort him, but found she couldn't walk much more then he could. She looked over to Blood Moon and saw his fear for his father. This small bit of strength seemed to warm her a bit, seemed to give her strength. She looked back at her own haunch, and could see the muscles twitching beneath the torn flesh, the deep gashes that were spilling over with blood. The blood was making little rivers down her leg, so she leaned back to a sit, which sent fresh stabs of pain surging through her leg. She winced again, but didn't make a sound. She leaned over and licked the blood from her wound and began to cleanse herself of the bear's blood. At the thought of the bear she looked back over to the creature, but to her relief, it was dead. However, its now glazing eyes were still locked on Killer, and it's face was still caught up in a snarl, even in death. She closed her eyes, thinking about how this bear could have ended her life, as well as her packs. Darkness then looked up to Killer and managed to get herself into a standing position. She hobbled over to him, dragging her limp hind leg behind her.
