Soda padded down the street her ears perked up slightly. The clouds seemed to be rolling in. She needed someplace to stay. Looking around she sniffed under a covered wagon. A squeak came from the rat she had disturbed before it ran further into the shadows. She snorted the dust from her nose, and moved away. Not there, it would be hard to escape from there, and it could flood easily. Leaping onto what used to be a fruit cat under a small awning, Soda sighed. It was pretty big, she decided, had good rain protection, and was easy to escape, but wouldn't protect her from the wind. Pouncing out of the cart she looked around. This wasn't a good place for tonight. A good place for games but not for sleeping. Sighing she fluffed her fur to keep out the cold, and started down an ally. Looking around she laid down against a wall. Yawning she closed her eyes. Just a small nap before setting off again.
Soda knew she shouldn't have to worry about this, and would probably be accepted into any neutral or light pack, but she liked life out on the road. She could settle down some other time. She knew how to take care of herself, though sometimes she wished she had a mother to care for her, like her mother had cared for her some time ago.

Shady padded down the street, tail swishing contently behind her. It was a beautiful evening and she wanted to enjoy it to the fullest, her ears cocked to attention just in case. She paused mid-step when she heard the soft squeak of a pup yawning and swiveled her head to pin-point where the sound was coming from and lowered her head to see if she could catch the scent. Once found, she quietly stalked toward the alley, her footsteps silent even upon the rough broken concrete.
Shady got about halfway down the alley, when she saw a small pup slumbering happily against the wall. She moved closer, but not too close, not wanting to startle the wee one. She smiled to herself before speaking. "Are you lost?" She asked softly, her voice soft and soothing, so as to coax the puppy into a sense of security.

Domino trotted through the park sadly with his tail between his legs. He had no idea where he was going...... he had no home no family and no place to stay. He padded his way along just looking down at the ground. He missed his parents Domino never had anyone to love him and care for him. Then as he kept on walking he smelled other dogs. Domino sat down where he was tail motionless on the ground afraid to get any closer. He was afraid they might not be friendly so he stayed where he was hoping they did not scent him. Domino yawned he was growing tired but he had no place to sleep a small whimper escaped him as he realized how lonely he was he hoped no one else heard him.

Soda looked up from her nap, her eyes blinking quickly to help her focus on the black wolf. "No..." She yawned, "Just homeless." She smiled and sat up. Her ears pricked forward, and her blue eyes sparkled. "Why?" she cocked her head, this wolf's voice was soothing, low and comforting like her mothers. She felt a sad look cross her maw and tried to mask it. Her mother had kicked her out a month or two ago directing her to come to Canine Ridge for help.
Her head whipped to the side as she heard her playmate. "Domino?" She called, standing, her tail wagging quickly. She had left Domino yesterday near the waterfall, and had wondered how he had been. Her smile was wide while she waited for the answer from the black and white dog. She never turned her back on the wolf though, and was also listening to her, making sure she could hear every move the wolf could make. She didn't trust the wolf yet, but hoped that it had all the best intentions. She realized how rude she had been and said to the wolf, "Sorry, I'm Soda. Who might you be?" She turned back to the wolf, a little confused on who to pay attention to.

Shady let a sweet smile curve her muzzle. "Well, it's not every day you see a pup out all by her lonesome." She said softly, wanting to give the pup whatever comfort she could when the sad look crossed the girl pup's face. She smiled again. "I'm Shadow, but you may call me Shady." She said, her voice the still soothing tone, suddenly her ears perked up as she heard the soft whine. 'Another pup?' She thought, amazed that there were that many young out without any type of parent or pack around to keep an eye on them.
She felt warmth swell in her chest. If it came to it, she would take care of these pups! Shady was young and mate-less, but she had a motherly streak that was a thousand miles long. She turned her head to look out to where the small girl pup was looking to see if she could spot the other pup.

Domino started wagging his tail as he heard Soda's voice. He ran over to where she was and then noticed a black femme wolf. He sat down a few paw steps from Soda and the wolf. He didn't know weather to trust the wolf or not so he just leaned his head to one side and looked at her. Then he padded over to Soda and licked her muzzle in greeting he felt happy seeing his friend again. He sat down beside Soda and looked at the female wolf again. A yawn escaped his muzzle as he watched the wolf. He wanted somewhere safe to stay so he could sleep but he had no one to look after him. Then the sadness came back and his tail sat motionless again as he sadly looked at the ground.

Shady looked from one pup to the other, her heart aching at the sight of the two of them, alone and packless. "Who is your friend, Soda?" She asked, her icy gray eyes glittering with curiosity about the male pup. She sat down upon her haunches, tail wagging to and fro gently with her contentment.
She gave them both a warm soft smile. "If you two need a place to stay, I know a warm dry place to go." She said softly "And I swear to take care of you for as long as you like." Shady kept her voice soft and low still. Not wanting to frighten the puppies away.

Domino looked at the wolf and said "Hi I'm Domino." Then he answered her question and said "I do need somewhere to stay.." He looked over at Soda and then back at the wolf. His tail was wagging and he asked "Who are you?"

Shady smiled more brightly now. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Domino. The name's Shadow, but you may call me Shady." She said, ears perked and tail wagging more rapidly with her happiness. She cocked her head to the side slightly, looking from Soda to Domino and back.

Domino wagged his tail happily and barked "It's nice to meet you too." He stood up on his paws and looked happily at Shady. He had lots of energy and he wanted to play. Domino looked at the wolf and then Soda and waited.
