My breath quickened as my paws begin to beat faster and faster against the ground. My tongue was rolled out in a seemingly helpless pant that did not cool me down from the summer heat. I hated the way it felt as the sun beat down upon my slightly darkened pelt, but at the same time I knew that at some points, I had drawn comfort from the rays, but today was not one of those days. The temperature was rather hot, and the sun’s rays did not make running much of an enjoyable hobby. A soft sigh passed forth from my maw as I slowed down. I was nearing the subway where the train sat, inhabited by the pack that I belonged to, even if I did not quiet yet feel welcome here, I still called the place her home, despite the fact that it was something I really was not too sure about. I let my limbs slow down to a fast walk as I made my way closer to the subway; my salmon colored tongue ran gently across my maw as I approached the old human artifact. It amused her really, to see it and to wonder over what its purpose was before the humans died out, but that really did not matter. I was more worried about the Alpha dis-approving of me and my lack of appearance lately, even though in all honesty it was not my fault I really had not talked to any of the other pack members, I had never been much of a social butterfly.
I lowered my dial to sniff the ground and padded up towards the step. I leapt up onto the top step and continued on my way to my destination, to the very back seat, and in my opinion the most comfortable seat on the entire subway. A soft smile crossed my maw as I leapt up and into the seat and did a small circle the best I could. My forepaws dangling over the front of the seat and my tail curled around my back feet as I laid there with my dial held up. My erect ears were pulled by slightly as I imagined myself being at the ocean and feeling the waves rush up and meet my paws just at the right spot. The image brought me much comfort and remorse. I wanted to be back there, by the beach, by myself doing what felt right at the moment, knowing that I did not have a bit of authority above me, but at the same time… I knew that it would not happen, not now not ever. Despite the fact that I hated Authority, I had met my alpha and became loyal to him, and that was where my loyalties would lie until he passed on or abandoned the pack.
I cleared her throat wondering why I had let that last thought slip through. I opened her brown eyes and looked around the train, my ears twitching slightly as I laid my dial down upon my front limbs, on the area that was not dangling over the side of the seat. I closed my eyes and let the sleep come and take me off to one of my favorite places ever, even if it was just for a little while. I let my mind slip off to dreamland, while I made sure to keep my ears and nose alert and alive in the real world. I was waiting for a pack member to show up, or perhaps even the alpha himself.

A pale muzzle was raised off two crossed paws. The padded seats of the old Number Fourteen bus were few and far between, but if you knew which were which, you could sneak into one for the night. The dog occuping one of these more comfortable seats hadn't been asleep that night. No, he's been waitful, listening to the sounds around him. Every now and then had been a scuffle of two or more dogs near by. His acute hearing had picked them up before they went out of range. Artemis took a lesuirely streth, his long tail flicking out slightly as he leapt lightly off the chair. His clawed paws clicked gently across the floor of the bus. He took the stairs cleanly in one swift movement, landing first with his front paws, his back curling up behind.
The area in front of him was littered with scrap. He'd lift a paw every so often to dislodge a piece of light scrap that lay in his path. The floor was also coated with a thin layer of grease, one that he could easily rectify. Not that this mattered. Learning to walk over hard surfaces gave you surefootedness. The ability to scale buildings or hard destinations. His tail was lifted out of the grime, sifted softly through the silent air. He scaled the stairs with no trouble, each paw using the grip on the metal. From here he could servay what he was leader of. The pale moonlight reflected off the sides of the bus, throwing it out onto the floor. The regal looking dog bent back his haunches. He didn't need an army. He didn't knwo what he needed. It would come along soon enough if he did need it desperately.
The ledge was easy enough to scale up, which he did so, tail providing excellent balance. There was a hole in the roof of every building on Taurus' ground. It gave them a stratigical advantage. An extra way in and an extra way out. In a fight situation, the pups could get out and there was always the advantage of a fight on the roof. Those in the Taurus pack would know the roofs better than the opponant. So, a situation which benefited them. Something Artemis was all in favour for. Artemis jumped lightly up onto the stacked boxes before climbing out onto the sloping roof. The rain had started to patter down on the bus shelter's corrogated iron roof. Artemis looked up at the bruised, grey clouds. With a slight shake of his silky head, he moved across the roof. His claws clicked on the iron as he leapt lightly through the gap between buildings. It was only two feet or so, nothing for the four paws of a dog. He'd taken the metal sheets cut out from the roofs and pulled them over the rest of the roof-tops, making sure the interior didn't get soaked. The last one was the last building spanning his terratory, the shelter.
Artemis black silken head was wet with the rain as he walked on, his head held high. Bright eyes and alert ears. He was aware of a new smell. Not so much new as much closer than before. He'd been close to it once, when it had first arrived. Without hurrying, Artemis jumped up into the carriage, padding along with his tail flicking from side to side. His straight spine and elegant head hardly moved as he walked on. The smell was fresh and knew, only minutes old. When it was only a few metres away, Artemis jumped up onto the old leather seat a few rows back, his bushy tail giving him balance. He put two paws on the top of the chair and raised himself up to look over at the female dog. "Misery, am I correct." He asked in his soft lilith accented voice. Never raised and hardly ever angry and without a great deal of emotion.
