Wren The crack of dawn split the thin morning air, the dark sky gradually turned to a pale pink as the sun had begun to rise. Wren's big brown eyes twinkled with interest as she studied her surroundings, her long furry tail hanging down from her hindquarters, feet shuffling nervously. Slowly the long legged boarder collie let her tongue loll out the side of her mouth, her breaths making clouds of white in the cold. She didn't know where she was going, or what she would find here, but she wanted a place to rest after walking all night. Sighing, Wren trudged forward, the sounds of crackling leaves under her paws made the dog tense. She welcomed the soft feeling of grass on her sore pads, the dew soaking into them. Wren whimpered slightly to herself, she was lost, and she knew it, if only she could find someplace to sleep. After a while, Wren stopped, her legs ached and she knew that it was time to rest. Finally she flopped down on the ground, letting her paws sprawl out before her. Sighing with relief, Wren lay her head down on her forepaws, she thought about closing her eyes, but was to nervous to do so.

Eclipse was walking through the park that morning when he thought he smelled another dog. He followed the scent and found a female border collie. He said "Hello Whats your name?" hoping he did not startle her. He sat down and waited for her to respond. Eclipse could not sleep so he had went out for a walk in the park he didn't think he would see anyone there. He wondered if the female was lost as he looked up at the sky. Its going to be a beautiful day thought Eclipse. Then his attention went back to the female as he waited for her to respond.

Wren jumped at the sound of another dogs voice, she whipped her head around and starred wide eyed at the male dog siting next to her. Quicky she sat up, ears erect, "ah....hi" she replied quickly, letting her tail thump the ground softly. "My names Wren" the boarder collie barked, "whats yours? She cocked her head slightly in intrest, by the way he had approached her, Wren could tell that he didn't want to harm her. It didn't take long for her to notice that he had started looking at the sky, curiosly she looked up. Wren noticed that the sun had risen a little and the sky was a little brighter, she sighed with relief, walking around in the dark didn't suite her likeings very well. Finally she returned her attention back to the other dog, than it hit her, mabye he could tell her where she was! Wren smiled lightly, maybe today wouldn't be so bad after all. She relaxed a little and let her tail thump the ground harder, this was the first dog Wren had met in a long while, so she was happy to finally see antother wagging tail.

He listed to her speak then answered "My name is Eclipse." "Why may i ask why you are way out here so early in the morning?" He smiled at her and his tail thumped slightly on the ground. As he waited for an answer he felt an itchiness in his ear so he lifted up his hind leg to scratch it. He sensed a happiness in her face now he could tell she was happy to have another dog to keep her company. He could tell she was tired she needed to rest but he guessed she was to nervous to do so. He suddenly realized he felt sort of tired to but he didn't want to leave Wren out here all by herself. So he fought the sleepiness he closed his eyes a few times but he forced himself to stay awake. So he sat and waited patiently for her to respond still wagging his tail. He wondered if she wanted a safe place to rest.. so they both could rest.

Wren nodded slowly when he spoke, his eye lids where beginning to drop and she figured he to was tired. "What am I doing out here?" She repeated, Wren narrowed her eyes in thought, trying to come up with a good answer. Finally she looked back at Eclipse, "well I...don't really know!" The boarder collie admitted,"I think I'm lost" Wren whimpered slightly and sighed, looking down at her paws she let her tail drop. Quickly she glanced around, hoping she would recognize any surroundings, but of course she didn't. "Its hopeless!" Wren thought to herself, "I don't even remember where I was before I came here!" Nervously she scratched at the ground, hoping that maybe Eclipse could show her around, or at least show her a good place to rest. Wren looked back up at him, patiently waiting for a reply. So his name was Eclipse, that much she knew, there were probably other dogs around here, most likely not as friendly. Wren winced as the memory of being attacked by another wild dog as a pup came back to her. She still had the scar to remember him by.

Amazing Grace how sweet the sound...
Grace walked on the hard cracked sidewalks running through the center of the park. It was early morning and very very cold. Her breath making white clouds has pure has her coat. He trotted through, not seeing any other dogs, and only hearing complete silence. Grace was out here today only to see the sky. This was one of her favorite things, to take morning walks alone to just see the sky. Some times it was grey and misty and aometimes it was colorful like today. It was purple and yellow with hints of grey right now. Her long white coat shone beautifully against the long uncut green grass. She trailed off the gravel sidewalk onto the grass, pressing her wet nose againt it. She could smell stale scents of dogs passed weeks and days ago but there were two new scents. She was very sociable but not very talkitive so she decided to meet these two dogs. As she followed their scent to the eastern outskirts of the park she learned that one was a female, probably a border collie, and the other was a male but she couldn't tell his breed. She turned a corner and ran smack right into the border collie. Oops, sorry! Grace exclaimed breathlessly. She towered over the other two dogs at least 1 ft taller then the taller of the two, the male. Uh, hi I'm Grace she said quietly, her voice high and in melody, back to her usual shy self. She hoped she wasn't interupting anything. She shuffled her big paw over the long green grass nervously.

Wren let out a yelp of surprise as something smashed into her side, she stumbled a few steps backward untill she finally regained her footing. Eyes wide in confusion, Wren looked up to see a much taller female dog standing over her. She tensed not sure what to do, when the the dog began to talk. Wren was a bit surprised when she apologized, and was even more surprised when she told them her name was Grace. Either way, Wren sighed with relief and let her shoulders slump back down again. "It's okay" she replied quickly, "I'm sure you didn't mean it." The Border Collie smiled lightly and let her ears prick back up again, showing that all signs of fear and aggresion had gone. Finally she decided to speak, "my names Wren!" She barked happily, than she looked over at the male dog beside her, "and this is Eclipse" Wren put in. She cocked her head in curiosity and let her tail once again sweep the soft grass beneath her. She had never really remembered seeing a dog as tall as Grace, but than again as of now, Wren didn't remember much!

Eclipse noticed the new dog then when she finishe talking he said "It's nice to meet you Grace." He smiled at her and and his tail brushed over the ground. When Wren said she was lost he thought he should show her a safe place to rest for he himself was growing tired. Eclipse then layed down on the ground and rested his head over his paws he closed his eyes but kept wagging his tail to show he was not asleep he kept his ears alert and waited patiently for one of the females to speak. He let out a yawn then let his jaws snap shut Eclipse was despirately trying to keep from falling asleep. Then suddenly he sat back up and asked Wren "Would you like to find somewhere to rest?" He sat there his tail wagging and waited for her to respond.

Wren nodded with relief, "Oh yes please!" The border collie barked. She sighed, thankfull that Eclispe had asked that question, for her paws felt like they would calapse under her, she was so tierd! Qucickly Wren rose to her paws, tail wagging in response, she was now very eager to find a good place where she could fall asleep without having to worry about anything. Suddenly she remembered Grace, Wren looked over to where the long legged dog was sitting and smiled warmly. "Do you want to join us?" Wren questioned, she cocked her head to one side and let her tounge loll down over her canines. Although Wren hoped that Grace would come with them, she knew that there was a possiblity she would want to continue walking. The border collie wagged her tail in understanding at the thought, in most circumstances she wouldn't be going with any strange dogs either, but she knew that there was really no choice. Besides, Eclispe had showed her kindness, the first one to talk to her, to let her know that she wasn't alone. Wren breathed deeply, knowing that maybe she wouldn't be lost forever.

That saved a wretch like me... Grace took one more look at the stunning morning sky, then turned back to the other pair of canines. She nodded as the border collie, wren, told her their names. She was still embarassed at her clumsy entrance. She guessed that the border collie must not have a home by the way Eclipse said "Do you want to find a place to rest?". She zoned out for a second thinking about her small den on the western oukskirts of the city, near the junkyard. Then she heard Wren say her name, She shook her head and returned to reality listening to Wren. Okay, if its no trouble for you of course... Grace said shyly sweeping her paw over the long prickly grass. Her tail wagged at the thought of possibly making a new friend. While waiting for a reply she observed the two dogs more closely. The border collie was chocolate and white and very beautiful. The male, well she still couldn't tell his breed very well. She sat down, her tail wagging gently. She yawned loudly. She stopped wuickly and said oops silently, she hoped these other dogs didn't consider it rude.

The little border collie smiled again and stood on her toes, "great!" She barked happily. Wren realized that the more dogs she knew in this place, the better chance of survival she really had. Her tail moved so fast that it was nearly a blur, Wren looked over at Eclipse and crouched down on her forepaws, rump swaying as she rocked on her paws. "Well, I think where ready to go!" Wren spoke joyfully, her ears pitched forward. Realizing how puppy like she must have looked, the brown and white furred dog quickly sat up and slowed her tail down, although she was still eager to get moving. Suddenly she felt an Itch behind her ear, Wren gritted her teeth and reached up with her hind paw to scratch it. She let out a sigh of relief when it finally went away. putting down her hind paw, Wren starred at the other two canines before her, suddenly embarrassed she lowered head and brushed her paw across the grass, the way Grace had done before. The border collie was glad she was making new friends, but she didn't want to start it off looking really silly!

Eclipse then said "Alright let's get going then i have a den not far from here follow me." He then stood on his feet ready to go when they were he looked back at the other dogs tail wagging, and waited for them to follow. Eclipse then yawned again he was growing even more tired then before and was glad to be headed back to his den. His feet wear growing weary beneath him. He was ready to rest off his night's wanderings but he waited for the other two dogs before he went anywhere. He was patient even thought he was tired because he knew Wren was tired too and like him, wanted only to sleep now. Eclipse sensed that she usually didn't trust strange dogs but she trusted him and this made him feel good. Then Eclipse thought about his brother Flamingstar, the complete opposite of him that is a dog you would never trust. Then he pushed his thoughts away and again he waited for the two other dogs

Wren eagerly bounded forward, a new brightness reflected in her big brown eyes. "I'm ready!" She breathed, her pink tongue lolling out of her mouth. Pitching her ears forward, Wren let her tail wag freely, not afraid to show how grateful and glad she was that Eclipse would help her. Fondly she brisked around to face Grace, Wren barked and pawed at the air with her right fore paw. "Come on Grace!" She put in quickly, "Eclipse is going to show us a place to rest" Although happiness had given her more energy, the border collie knew that she would have to have a good long sleep to regain her full health. Suddenly her belly growled, flattening her ears in embarrassment, Wren bent down and sniffed the long unclipped grass. Snorting she began to nip thoughtfully at the green shoots. They felt fresh and wet against her tongue and soon she was grasping mouthfuls of the stuff. Being born in the countryside, Wren was use to snacking on grass and the green things that grew in the Fields every once and a while, it didn't bother her. Once she was satisfied, the brown and whited furred canine lifted her head and licked her lips. Even though it wasn't her first choice of meals, at least it could keep her belly quite. Grunting she glanced at the husky beside her and waited for him to start off.

Eclipse looked at them one more time then decided they were ready and slowly started off. He noticed Wren had a bit more energy now that they were on their way it felt good to help her out. As he was walking he thought again about Flamingstar he missed his brother but he pushed that away he was too tired to think straight. He sort of laughed at how excited Wren was hoping she didn't notice. To him she looked like a pup at that moment but that made Eclipse smile he loved pups. He waged his tail slightly walking slowly to make sure the two females could keep pace. Then when they reached his den he said "Were here." It was a big den too big for him alone then he looked at Wren and Grace as if to say ladies first. He sat down there and waited till they were both inside to enter he yawned again home sweet home he thought to himself.
