It was silent, except for the birds of course as Whisp charged through the woods twords the Waterfall. Her black fur ruffled in the wind. As she neared the Waterfall she slowed her gait. She thought she scented another dog, but she dismissed the thought right away. She continued on her path. Whisp neared the edge of the Waterfall she stopped. As she peered over the edge of the treacherous waterfall. Suddenly she heard the leaves rustle behind her. Whisp has always been jumpy, probably because of what happened to her brother. She leaped up in the air in surprise. Her leap must have carried her forward, because she found her forelegs hanging over the edge. Pulling with her back legs she managed to pull her self back up. She turned around to find a large, black German Shepard looking at her. Feeling embarrassed she turned away from the new dog. She hoped he had not caught her fear sent. The water in the waterfall was rushing fast, faster than usual Whisp was glad she hadn't fallen in. She turned back around twords the black dog. "Um... Hello" Whisp address the black dog. Awaiting an answer she plopped her haunches down, prepared to wait.

Gunth hadn't mean to surprise the fea, he didn't even know she was there until she had jumped. Shuffling his paws in embarrassment, the black German Shepherd grunted. All he wanted was a drink and now he had to deal with another dog! His nose quivered in anger with himself for being so careless and clumsy. Laying his ears flat against his head, Gunth snorted and hunched his shoulders forward. "Ah...sorry" he replied lowly. In most circumstances he would have just ignored her and walked away, but he realized that he had nearly cost her her life. Rolling his eyes, Gunth tried to manage a light smile, but he was only able to lift his lips slightly, Quickly he returned his mouth back to its normal position, smiling was deafinantly something he didn't do regularly. Huffing, he shook himself, trying to get ride of the unnatural silence that echoed around them. Finally he decided to lift his head, to at least get a better look at the dog he had nearly killed. Gunth was a bit surprised to see a cute looking Labrador settled in front of him, her black fur dappled by the sunlight.

Whisp saw the unfamiliar dog try to smile. She realize that this was something he didn't do often. Probably, he never even talked to the other dogs. Smiling she said "Oh, that's okay. I'm so clumsy, I would have fallen off anyway." Letting her gaze drift past the dog and into the forest she let her dreams claim her for a moment. Snapping back she realized that she did not know this dogs name, and he hers. "Ah... my name is Whisp" the lab replied not waiting for an answer she turned her back to him, looking at the water fall. "It is so dangerous, but yet so beautiful" Whisp almost whispered to herself unsure if the Shepard had heard her she added softer "Like the love I will never find' her words barley a muffle. She looked back up at the male he was bigger than her. His fur was jet black. He seemed friendly enough, although she barley knew him, she thought she kind of like him. "So Whisp questioned "What is your name?" Turning back around she let her brown orbs wander about the male.

Gunth looked up in surprise, "why dose she want to know?" He thought sourly to himself. At first he kept silent, finally his mouth moved. "Gunth..." he replied, "my name is Gunth" The big black dog shifted uncomfortably, he barely ever talked to other dogs, let alone have them ask his name. Quickly he let his gaze drop down to her paws, not wanting to look at her. "Maybe thats all she wants to know!" He murmured to himself, "than I can leave!" The shepherd nodded slowly. The sun was beginning to beat down hard on his back, Gunth panted a little and pitched his ears forward, trying to release any heat. Suddenly he felt an itch behind his ear, snorting he plopped down on his hindquarters and reached up with his hind leg. Gunth let out a sigh of relief as his scratching relieved the the itchy feeling. He looked up towards the sky and watched with interest as a brown crumpled leaf floated down, it landed lightly on his nose and Gunth sneezed. Even more embarrassed he quickly swiped the leaf away sending it flying back into the woods.

Whisp waited she heard the reply come "Gunth, my name is Gunth" Hello Gunth, it is nice to meet you! Whisp answered. "Gunth" she thought "That is a name you don't hear every day." "So Gunth" Whisp started "Do you have any living family members?" Whisp was just trying to be friendly thinking for a moment she thought it might seem that she was coming on to strong. Whisp hadn't seen any dogs in days. She just wanted some company! She continued to think in her dream bubble. Upon coming back to the real world she realized a fly had landed on her back. Whisp stood up, and shook her short black pelt. All her eforts were wasted as the fly bit her, then flew off into the sky. The bite itched, it itched terribley. she raised her paw, but it didn't reach. "Ugh" she thought. In the treble itching she rolled over, and moved her body back and forth, the itch satisfied she rolled back over, and saw Gunth looking at her. Embarressed she shook her pelt off Sorry she said.

Gunth hadn't really paid much attention to the way Whisp had dealt with the fly. Instead, his mind had wondered to her question, "do you have any living family members?" He blinked, it was something he hadn't thought about in a long time. Sourly he snorted as he remembered his mother, not much of a mother since she had abandon her pups a few weeks after giving birth! Angrily he scratched the ground, tell this day he still couldn't understand why, all he knew is it had ended up killing his siblings. Looking up he realized that he still hadn't answered, without thinking he shrugged. "Who knows if there alive or dead, I don't care" he muttered, thinking of his father whom he had never even known since his mother had been force bred. Shaking his head, Gunth looked away. He always tried to forget his past, but it was becoming harder and harder as he grew, haunting him and coming back in dreams. The black dog decided that this conversation would probably last longer than he thought. So he sighed and plopped down on his hindquarters sending fall leaves flying everywhere.

Still embarrassed about the fly, she looked up at Gunth looking for any signs that he had notice. Once she was sure that he really didn't care, or hadn't really payed any attention to it! She sat in silence waiting for him to reply to her question. Plopping her haunches back down she kick the extra leaves off that had stuck to her fur even after the vicious shake. As she was kicking at the leaves she heard him start to speak, and she ceased kicking. "Oh" Whisp uttered. How could this dog not even CARE about his family, when hers meant so much to her, even though she had no one left! Coming to a conclusion that if he had known his family he would have cared more she realized that something must have gone wrong. Something must have gone wrong! She thought. Or... he is just one inconsiderate dog! Venturing out on a limb, something Whisp didn't do very often, and decided to ask Gunth a very personal question. Taking a deep breath she took a moment more to steady her nerves, and then blurted out "What went wrong with your family"

Gunth looked up, wrong? It was the word the femme had decided to use in her personal question. The shepherd shifted uncomfortably, as of now nothing had gone right, did that mean his life was wrong? Growling to himself, Gunth narrowed his eyes and pressed his fore paws hard into the earth. Suddenly he let out a half-hearted laugh and looked back up at Whisp, "Why, everything if you must ask!" And for once he let a small grin escape his lips, but it wasn't a happy one, more of something to convince himself that he could smile. Sighing, he rolled his eyes and continued on, "and if you must know I have never had a family!" It wasn't completely a lie. True he had once had a brother and a sister, but never really a mother, and of course not a father. Shaking his maw, Gunth stretched out and flopped his blurry black body down against the leaf-mold. If this Female wanted to know about him, than he would tell her, but it didn't quite mean that he had to give her the complete encyclopedia on his life, and thats the way he would leave it.

" 'If you must know I have never had a family!' " The words still echoed in Whisp's head. Family was what her life was based upon, and this dog, had never had any family at all. What did he do in he spare time, did, has he ever felt any compassion twords another dog. The only dog Whisp had admired was her brother, but now he was gone. 'What would my life been like if I never had to family' Whisp thought. She saw the forced smile that slipped out of Gunth's lips. Even though she thought he meant it to look friendly, she thought it looked more menacing. Well... at least he was trying to be friendly she thought. Looking up at the sun, Whisp saw it was at it's highest peak of the day. The heat smothered her inside her black body. Plopping down she let her jaws open, and quickly to relive her self from the heat she let her tongue loll to one side, eventually coming in a even rhythm. She placed her fragile black head on her paws. "So... what did you do in all your time,... I mean,... if you didn't have any family?" Whisp knew this sounded rude, but the question was flying around in her head and she just had to get it out!

The big shepherd snorted, his eyes flickered to the side of him and away from Whisp's gaze. He found it strange why anyone would wonder such a thing, but than again, this dog seemed to have endless amounts of things to ask! Fumbling with the words in his mouth, Gunth shrugged, "I do whatever I want..." he sighed. Even though he knew doing whatever he wanted, seemed to be just trying to survive! He stared back at Whisp, for once his eyes never wavered and the stone hardness of his eyes softened. "Now its time for me to ask a question!" His mind replied. Pawing at the ground, Gunth thought for a moment before lifting his head and speaking. "So... are you on your own? He woofed, it wasn't the best thing he could think of, but he was starting to wonder if she traveled alone, or maybe even with a mate. There was a short silence again and Gunth shook his head in frustration, "Well, I mean do you have any...family?"" He quickly put in. Although he hadn't seen anyone else with her, it was possible that she could have someone to go home too, unlike him.

Whisp stiffened at the question. It was not long since she has lost her brother, in that building, with all those flames. She didn't even want to think of what happened to him. His life was at it's peak, and her life had no meaning why couldn't it have been her in the building! "Um..." Whisp stuttered "Well I never had a mate, if that is what you mean", sucking her breath in. Even though she seemed calm on the outside, a tremendous battle was raging inside her. 'Should I tell Gunth about my brother?' Whisp thought 'No! He has no reason to know!' The battle still continued, finally she deiced that she would tell him, after all he had answered all of her questions willingly! Struggling to gain control she started "I..." and wasn't able to continue on. She relaxed her self, and got ready to try again. "I used to have a brother" She stuttered "But,... he, he" Slowing down she prepared her self for what she was going to say. " He died in the explosion. He was in a building, and it fell on him." She let a gasping breath out. This was the first time since the fire she had talked about her brother. Whisp looked up , and searched Gunth's face for any emotion.

Gunth blinked in surprise, he hadn't expected an answer like that. He felt his face grow uncomfortably hot and he nervously shifted his rump. "So she was alone!" The brute thought. He had had many deaths within his life, but none of them seemed to affect him much. Sighing, Gunth shook his head, "I'm sorry..." he muttered, "about your brother I mean!" He could tell by the change in her scent that even the thought of her brother had changed Whisps attitude. Gunth looked away, "I shouldn't have asked!" He thought in reply to his own words. His eyes shifted momentarily to the sky and he noticed that the sun had gone down a little. Shadows where beginning to make there way across the forest floor and the bright blue sky had turned darker. Gunth didn't really mind, its not like he had anything better to do! Of course finding a place to stay for the night would have been optional, but he would rest here if it got to late. Finally he returned his attention back to the black femme, Gunth cocked his head to one side, not knowing what to say.

"Oh it is okay" Whisp sighed, 'I have to get over it any way!" Whisp let her hazel eyes drift to the grassy ground, that was covered in leaves. She could still hear the not so faint roaring of the water fall in the background. Whisp's eyes flicked to the sky, she realized the the sun was sinking, into it's resting place, where it would subside until the new morning. 'How long have I been talking to this dog?' Whisp thought. Her gazed drifted back to were Gunth sat. Whisp thought about how Gunth had reacted when she first started talking to him, defiant. Now he seemed, at least sort of friendly. The cold water that had been showering on her back, had felt good during the blistering sun, but now it was chilling her to the bone. "Can we move a little way away form the waterfall" Whisp suggested "The water is really COLD!" Glancing at Gunth she got up, and took a few steps twords the woods, then turned around. "Well are you coming?" She barked, and charged off into the woods. She hoped Gunth would follow her, she really enjoyed talking to him, suprizingly enough.

Gunth barely got a chance to reply to Whisps question before she bounded away into the woods. He blinked in awe and looked around. Suddenly the woods seemed quiet and he shivered, quickly he glanced in the direction Whisp had disappeared and watched as she melted into the forest. Quickly he stood and took a step forward, "should I follow her?" He thought hesitantly, although his paws ached to run. For a moment he didn't move, than he parted his maw and barked out, "Er...Whisp wait up!" Gunth called. Leaping forward he bolted after her, though he wasn't even sure if she had heard him. Tongue lolling out the side of his mouth, the shepherd sped, hoping to see her just around the corner. When he didn't see Whisp, Gunth snorted in frustration and looked around, all that could be seen where tall dark trees and shrubs. He whimpered slightly to himself, she was no where in sight. Gunth ran for a little longer before he slowed to a stop, paws skidding in the wet leaves. Sucking in air, he lowered his head and tried to catch his breath, all the while wondering where the Lab had gone to?

Whisp wasn't sure if the black german shepard had followed her into the darkening forest but as soon as she had gotten farther into the forest she turned. Thinking it would be rude if he had followed her into the forest to leave him alone. She back tracked the way she had came stumbling off the trail some of the time, but all ways stumbling back to it. 'Why do I even care the slightest bit about this dog' Whisp thought 'I just ment him, he could be really mean!' Even though Whisp had thought this she knew it wasn't true, she hoped it wasn't ture. Whisp continued to look for Gunth. Only stoping to eat a few bites of squirl. She found him closer to the edge of the forest by the waterfall. Slowley she approached him, not wanting to frighten him. "Um... Gunth" Whisp called. She saw the large black tom swing his head tword her hearing her call. She bounded over to him. "Sorry for running off" She said "After I ran off I thought it might seem kind of rude, so I came back here!" Not waiting for a reply she continued "I already had some stuff to eat so, do you want me to get you some?" She questioned cocking her head to one side waiting for an answer.
