A look of anger crossed Flint's face when his paws finally hit the shore and Mess continued to apoligise. "Why would you go out into the deep like that when the waves are so large? You could have gotten yourself killed!' Flint closed his eyes tightly and only saw an image of Mess sinking beneath the waves, then an image of her soggy and broken body floating toward shore. Tears of sorrow and anger slipped out of the corners of his eyes. When he opened his orbs again and looked down to the wet form of Mess his eyes softened a bit. She was spluttering out apoligies as fast as she was water. He sighed a bit when she said that she loved him. He shook his head slowly and spoke softly. "You have a funny way of showing your love Mess." Flint looked at the wet dog body that laid on the sand before him and his eyes were full of love. He walked up to her and gave her a quick lick on the side of her face. A little line of water ran from the top of his head between his eyes and he was reminded that he hadn't even shook himself that he was so worried. Flint walked a few steps away from Mess and shook himself, sending small drops of the salty water flying in all directions. He then walked back up to the femme and spoke again. "Listen, I'll make a deal with you. You have to stop trying to kill yourself, that means no more trying to eat poisened fruit, no more trying to drown yourself. If you do that, then I'll be your mate. If you would like me to be of course." His eyes stared down into her's with an intent expression.

Message's expression sank. He did think that she had been trying to kill herself, and yet here he was, asking her to be his mate, pretty much. Confused, Mess sat up wearily, using most of her energy to do so. "Let's get this straight before I say anything else." Her maw sucked in oxygen, preparing for her small speech. "I wasn't trying to kill myself with the fruit, I knew perfectly well that they were poisonous, but I wasn't planning on sticking it in my mouth anytime soon. I still have a life to live. And there, out there just now, I wasn't trying to kill myself. I didn't mean to get almost killed. I was perfectly fine until you caused the waves to drag me under. I am capable of living, I've gone through it all before." Message hoped he would understand her this time, and looked at his eyes pleadingly. If he didn't forgive her, she would have to do the unnecessary, walk away. And she didn't really want to do that, seeing as how they were both i nlove with each other, and would make the perfect couple if they got together.

Flint's eyes left Mess' face and he looked out at the crashing waves. "Look, I'm sorry if I'm being a bit... overprotective. It's just that, a long time ago I had a sister. She and I were inseprable. She was the daredevil and I was the cautious bodyguard. Well, one day we were out playing by a lakeshore and I told her not to go out too far. She wouldn't listen to me. As soon as I turned my back, she dove into the water and swam way out. I could barely see her anymore! When I saw her out there I panicked. I swam toward her as fast as I could, but the rip tide caught her. I saw her go under and didn't see her come back up. I think I swam around out there for an hour or more, calling her name, looking for the flash of her white fur... but I didn't see it. I swam back to land when my muscles wore out and wandered along the edge of the lake for a few days hoping she maybe got out of the water and got back to shore." Flint closed his eyes tightly as small tear slipped out. "I found her after three days of wandering. Birds were covering her body, feeding on it. I scared them all away and ran to her. I figured she was dead, but I just had to be sure. When I got to her I saw her face. Her face... oh her face. It was twisted into an expression of agony and fear!" Flint's own maw opened and his teeth were bared, opened in a silent scream of pain. His eyes were still closed, focused on something that was in the past, the face of his deceased sister. His eyes suddenly flashed open, filled with sorrow and pain. When he saw the face of the femme before him his face slacked and showed nothing. "That's why I might be overprotective at times. I don't want you to end up like my foolish sister. I might be too slow, too late again. I don't want to find you laying somewhere, broken and battered like she was!" Flint lowered his head close to hers and rubbed against the side of her face as if making sure she was really there.

The words falling out of Flint's maw were of horror and disappointment, almost. Dissapointment in what though? Hinmself? His dead sister? Message could picture her exactly, the most beautiful creature she had ever seen. Of course, it was only a rough image in her mind, she had never met his sister before. Or had she? "What was her name, your sister?" A flash of curiousity broke her concentration, and Message stood up, stretching her legs with ease and focuse. "And I'm sorry if I scared you, I didn't mean for it to happen. Although, luck seems to be one of the virtues I haven't grasped yet." A joking look crossed her face, and a glance into the tide warned her of a storm at sea. "We might as well move inland, that storm may head inward, quickly." A peep at the sky confirmed her theory, and Message began walking away from the lapping waves, the image of Flint's dead sister still in her mind. She couldn't shake her out, it was as if Mess had been a good friend of hers or something, and couldn't forget the good times they had had together. Mess was almost certain she hadn't known the dead female, but the tug of recognition still hung in her mind.

Flint's eyes squeezed shut tighter as Mess continued to bring up the topic of his sister. He was trying to get rid of those horrifying pictures that continued to haunt his memories. It was all in the past! Why won't they go away! His brain almost seemed to be screaming at him in the voice of his deceased sister. When he spoke it was in a hoarse choked voice. "Her name was Silver." When he said her name it was as if the storm clouds in his head cleared. He hadn't said her name ever since he had found her that day on the beach and it almost seemed as if it was a magic word. His eyes slowly opened as if testing to see if the memory really wasn't trying to haunt him. Flint still remembered the day, but it just seemed like another horrible day out of many that were in his past. The picture of his sister suddenly wasn't as sharp and clear as it was moments before. It was as if simply saying her name allowed him to forgive and forget both the thougtlessness of Silver and the fact that he didn't react quick enough to save her from her mistake. Flint looked up just as Mess said that a storm was coming. He knew that this storm would pass, just like the storm of his sister had. As Mess moved away Flint did as well. His paws carried him away from the waves, but he looked back just once more at those waves, they didn't look as sinister as they once had. The waves were indead rougher then they were before because of the approaching storm, but they looked friendly now, almost as if asking him politely to take a dip instead of the menacing way they had always called to him before. The wolf-dog looked up quickly as the sound of Mess' retreating footfalls and quickened his pace to catch up.

"Oh. For some reason, it feels like I knew her. But I've never met any of your family before." Message replied, confused that the memory of Silver was so clear in her head. Why did she seem so familiar? The beautiful white form of the female was still imprinted in her mind, and it wouldn't go away, no matter how much Message willed it to. She didn't really want it to go, but the twisted image of her ruined pretty from kept coming back to her, and it wasn't nice to look at. Then, another image entered her brain. It was of Silver drowning, staring dierctly at Message, screaming the words 'Help me' over and over again. Bubbles spurted from her maw as she was dragged under by the current, and her eyes pleaded, until they dulled and became lifeless. The image was so scary and sad that Message began silently crying, tears streaking down her cheek as raindrops began to drizzle upon the two. It was a light rain, but it didn't hide Message's tears. "Um, under this tree." Message led Flint under a tree overhanging the beach, one that didn't hold the deadly peaches scattered around the sand. Under it she sat, eyes on the ocean if it decided to wash her away, like what happened to Silver.

Flint had finally been starting to become happy now that the weight of his dead sister had been taken off of his shoulders when he saw tears streaming down Mess' face. His happy face immediatly dissapeared. He followed her down underneath the tree as his fur began to become soaked by the rain and sat down next to her. Flint leaned his face close to hers and licked one of the rivers of tears that were rolling down her face. The taste was salty and held a definite sadness to it. His brown eyes turned sad as he watched her face as if to find there what was wrong. It didn't help. All Mess' face told him was that she was upset for some reason, and he already knew that. He finally decided to speak up. "What's wrong Mess?" He never would have guessed what was really wrong. Flint's brown ears were perked forward, awaiting the beautiful voice that he knew would eventually would come out of the femme's beautiful maw. His eyes were locked on her's in anticipation of her answer. In the growing silence only interrupted by the pattering of the raindrops, howling of the growing wind, and the crashing of the waves on the beach, Flint began to count his own heartbeats. The sky grew darker and darker. What had once been a beautiful blue sky had now become a pitch blackness that was only penetrated by the frequent flashes of lightning. One flash lit up Mess' face and Flint saw the dark streams that led from the corners of her eyes to the bottom of her face. The thunder that sounded after seemed to rattle him to the bone.

"I don't really know. It feels like I knew Silver forever, but I can't place my paw onit where I might have met her. And...." The image of the drowning female entered her mind again, making chills go up and down her spine, and raising the hair on her back. This time, the picture was more intense, as there was blood streaming down Silver's face like tears, and gashes marring her beautiful light colored pelt. "It feels like I witnessed her death." There was no explaination for what Message was seeing, nor was there a sane theory to it. All Mess knew was that she was having a mental breakdown, like the last time....
Her mind was caving in, conceiving images and thoughts that she had never thought or seen before in her life. What would happen next? Mess wa suncertain to what her brain would spurt out next, and was sure this would happen again sometime soon if she didn't find a cure. What would happen if it continued? What would happen if it didn't stop? Would Flint take her for insane and leave? Would she have to live alone again? She truly didn't know.

Flint leaned forward and touched his body to hers. He knew that when he had had his sister with him and he saw the images of his parent's dieing, she had done this. The strong form of her body had always brought him back to earth when the horrible memories threatened to drag him away. Flint placed his head across Mess' neck and tried to calm her rushing mind down with soothing words. He knew exactly what she was going through, but didn't understand why she was going through them as well. He was sure that she had never met Silver before. He and Silver had never encountered any other dogs on their journey, and if they would have met one as beautiful as Mess he would have shurly had remembered. No, Flint was sure that today was the first day he had ever seen Mess, and he had stuck around Silver every waking moment.
The thunder that was booming from across the water almost seemed to shake the very ground he was standing upon. Lightning flashed again, showing Flint an erie picture of Mess framed in fire. He shook his head quickly and looked at Mess again. The breif flash of light was gone and with it was the picture. The wind abrutly changed direction and began to blow the driving rain beneath the tree the two dogs were sitting beneath. Flint murmured a curse beneath his breath as he became drenched in moments. "C'mon Mess, we have to find a new tree, this one's no good as shelter anymore." He had to yell above the now screaming wind, booming thunder, and the roaring of the waves. He stood quickly and waited for Mess to do so as well.

Message soon felt the onrage of water, the rush of the cool raindrops washing out her anxiety. The now black storm clouds overhead boomed with thunder, and the skies flashed with bright jolts of lightening. Message barely had enough time to react when she saw the ocean, an enormous wave building high in the distance. She knew it would grow larger with each passing second, and knew that it would eventually reach the two where they sat now. Heading Flint's own words, Message screeched a reply of her own. "Run!" It may have sounded foolish, but the easily thirty foot wave was still approaching, and seemed to grow feet as it came. A deep flash of lightening tore through Mess's eyes, and she was instantly blinded, a few seconds passed before she could see again. When she did, she saw that the wave was almost less than a hundred feet from shore, and was beginning to curl. Without another thought, Message bolted, paws hitting the sand, then dirt, as she ran into the forest, not daring to look back. Large waves like this was what scared her, a remnant of the past.
"Look Mama!" The playful cries of pups were heard over the moan of the ocean, frmo with spilled forth white crests and browning seaweed. Four little wolf pups played in the water, splashing around and creating little holes in the sand. "Look!" They were the perfect litter, two little females and two big males. Message was busy watching them, their father dutifully out hunting to provide food for his family. Message knew they would have to leave soon, gray storm clouds were forming close to shore, and the distant rumble of thunder was growing larger. Suddenly, a flash of lightening confirmed her thoughts, and she leaped up, eyes widening with fear. On the horzion, a huge wave was brewing, swiftly approaching the land from where her family played. "Come in at once! We have to go!" Her voice radiated towards the four little youngsters, who listened to their mother and began wrestling up the beach. They soon reached her, and stoo dby her side as all watched the impeding wave surge forwards. "Mama, what's wrong?" One of the little females, garbed Gale, was looking worriedly up at her mother, her doe like eyes buried in Message's fur. A quick step and Mess was off, running like the wind, calling for her pups to follow. They were too slow, and the loud crash soon brought them into the ocean, dragged by the current and liquid. Gale pleaded desperately with her eyes, struggling to pull herself out of the water. "Save me, Mama, save me!" She knew very well what was happening, and was becoming frantic with her efforts. Message just looked on, the harsh water lapping at her own paws.
Hours later, the father returned, his sharp compsure seeming cruel and evil. He was of the wolf breed, a slim face and large muscles. Named Hark, he was to be feared. Riding in his mouth was a slip of leather, and the carcass of a skinny buck. He looked around, expecting his litter of four and their mother to enter his view, but they did not. The scent in the air told him of their location, and he dropped what was in his maw, running towards where a lonely mother stood, staring down at a limp form.
It was the dead body of Gale, eyes still widened in fear. Her small, helpless form was barely breathing, and she was choking up water. Her head turned weakly to watch her father approach, Mess's eyes staying trained on her dying pup's face. A look of understanding crossed Hark's own dirtied face, and he stopped down, taking his daughter's scruff in his mouth gently. "Good-bye, Gale. I'll see you soon." With those last words, Hark closed her eyelids, watching as she exhaled her last breath and drifted into death. He dropped the now dead form of his daughter, and turned to Message. The look in his eyes was of anger.

Flint turned quickly and began to sprint away when Mess yelled out. He ran quickly through the forest, dodging branch, tree, tree, another branch. After about fifty dodges he suddenly stopped and turned back. He didn't see Mess. His ears perked up in hope of the sound of her footsteps coming behind him. He heard nothing. He turned his head quickly to the front of him thinking that she maybe had gotten ahead. Nothing. Quick footsteps made him turn his head back again, thinking that Mess was coming, but Flint was only bolled over by a large buck racing to escape the wave as well. A cut across Flint's forhead began to bleed and the blood dripped down his face across his muzzle. He shook his head quickly, trying to rid his eyes of the blood trickling down into them. The thought that Mess might still be back there, maybe caught by... something, spurred him into action. He began to run quickly toward the oncoming wave, frantically calling Mess' name. His ears were perked up, listening for an answer, a yelp... anything! Only the screaming of the wind caught his ears. His pelt was soaked because of the rain and the wind was nearly lifting him off of his feet, but he didn't want to loose Mess, not now. He had only just met her, he didn't want to loose her so soon. Flint continued to run toward the waters edge. When he emerged from the woods back to the beach he looked around quickly for his mate. He didn't see her, laying on the sand or running away. He could only have a moment of relief at the fact that she was probably running through the woods before he saw the wave. It was bearing down on him fast. It was only feet from shore. He knew he would never make it in time. He cast around quickly for something to hide behind, something to brace against the wave with. A large rock that was jutting toward land caught his eyes. It wasn't far, only a few bounds. He quickly moved his legs to cover that ground and only just made it behind the rock. A large hole was at it's base, maybe an old fox den, but he didn't care. He quickly squirmed his bulk into the hole and sat there, hoping, praying that Mess had run fast enough to escape the wave. The screaming wind was immediantly wiped out by the crashing of the wave over the rock he was beneath. He could feel it tremor by the weight the wave was pushing on it. Water sprayed down the hole against his face, but he couldn't tear his eyes away from the sight of the water rushing around the rock he was hiding against. He hoped he would be able to hold his breath long enough for when the water rushed back to the ocean, but he didn't know if he would be able to.
(Sorry it took so long for me to reply back. I've been a little preoccupied.)
